What is Samaritan’s Closet and Pantry?

Samaritan’s Closet and Pantry is a Christian, faith-based, non-denominational ministry organization that operates a not-for-profit thrift store and food pantry. The Ministry’s thrift store offers very reasonably priced clothing, household goods, and furniture for sale to the general public and provides aid to those in need of food, clothing, and furniture.

Who does Samaritan’s Closet and Pantry serve?

SC&P serves people of all ages, gender, and race who live in the City of Waynesboro, MS and Wayne County, MS.

All clients of SC&P pay for NONE of the aid received from the Ministry. In 2018, Samaritan’s Closet and Pantry directly served 10,900 individuals.

Programs provided by Samaritan’s Closet and Pantry:

The programs provided by Samaritan’s Closet and Pantry are as follows:

  • Monthly Food Aid Program: includes distribution of food supplied in part by Mississippi Food Network, food purchased with private and corporate donations, and food purchased with SC&P funds. Program also provides FOOD VOUCHERS to be used by our clients at a local grocery provider (Norman’s Food Outlet.)
  • Referral Aid Program: includes the distribution of clothing and food to clients who are referred to SC&P by local governmental authorities (DHS, Law Enforcement) and local churches or community leaders.
  • Emergency Aid Program: includes the distribution of clothing, food, and furniture to clients who are referred to SC&P by local governmental authorities (City and County Fire Departments, Wayne County Emergency Management.)
  • Walk-in Aid Program: includes the distribution of food and clothing to clients who walk into SC&P and make a “self-declaration” of need. These clients are typically members of the homeless community or people who are passing through our area.
