Pine Belt Youth Coalition

What is Pine Belt Youth Coalition?

Pine Belt Youth Coalition maintains a coalition of community resources and volunteers to provide no-cost opportunities and incentives for “at-risk” youth served by the Jones County Learning Center, the Laurel Education Center, and other youth organizations in the Pine Belt region. Motivational speakers, team-building activities, and positive behavior incentive programs are utilized to encourage these youths to stay in school and continue progress toward academic achievement and good citizenship.

Who does Pine Belt Youth Coalition serve?

Pine Belt Youth Coalition includes economically and educationally disadvantaged “at-risk” male and female youth from ages 12 to 19. The common situation is a teen with low self-esteem, little to no motivation for academic achievement, and a high potential for becoming a dropout.

Pine Belt Youth Coalition covers the City of Laurel and Jones County. In 2018, the Pine Belt Youth Coalition served 194 individuals directly.
