Questions and Answers

Who should purchase a tree?

Anyone that would like to advertise for his or her business, church, or organization. In addition, individuals may sponsor a tree in honor or memory of someone.

When does the Prancer Path open, and how long does it last?

The Path will officially be open for the public to view on November 26, 2024, and lasts until January 2, 2025.

What are the hours and cost of the Prancer Path?

The Prancer Path is FREE and open to the public 24/7 with lights burning continuously. The details of the themed trees will stand out in the daytime, but by nightfall, the Path is a magical display of holiday lights!

Who takes care of the trees while they are on display?

United Way of the Pine Belt Region staff and volunteers will tend to the trees daily. We recommend that sponsors check on their trees periodically and perform any maintenance as needed. Wind, rain, sun, and other elements can cause the trees to need some TLC. Please plan to check on your tree regularly to keep the Path looking neat, fresh, and inviting all throughout the holiday season!

Is there a contest with prizes?

Local businesses, organizations, and individual sponsors decorate the trees. Each tree is furnished with electricity and signage listing the sponsor and decorator. Trophies and ribbons will be given out on Opening Night, November 26, 2024, including the following categories and many more:

Guidelines and Must Haves

  1. United Way of the Pine Belt Region will provide each sponsor/decorator with one live Christmas tree, mounted in a specialized, custom-made stand designed specifically for the Prancer Path, professional signage listing the sponsor/decorator, and continuous electricity.

  2. Standard trees measure between 7-8 feet in height. Because we offer live cypress, we cannot guarantee the width or shape of every tree.

  3. Please do not move the tree stands.

  4. Use LED Outdoor lights only. We reserve the right to remove any lights that are not LED. We recommend using 4-5 strings of LED outdoor lights per tree. Lights should be strung with the male end of the plug coming from the bottom of the tree. Each tree will only be allowed one plug.

  5. Decorators must provide one 15-foot outdoor-rated extension cord. This is a safety issue. Any cords, not outdoor rated will be removed. Please label your cord with the name of your business/organization. Any additional extension cords must also be outdoor-rated.

  6. All decorations must be secured to your tree using pipe cleaners, small zip ties, or other string/ties. Everything used to decorate your tree must be fastened to the tree.

  7. Your tree décor must be suitable for display at a family event. Please no offensive language or photos. Items NOT ALLOWED:

    1. No glass ornaments
    2. No indoor rated extension cords
    3. No edible items---including but not limited to candy canes, popcorn, and birdseed. Edible items will attract wildlife, insects, and rodents and will compromise the safety of the environment.
    4. No tree skirts or collars---These items hinder the watering process and cannot be allowed.
    5. Offensive or divisive language, inappropriate photos or representations.

Checklist made simple:

  1. Dolly or wagon to transport decorations in and out
  2. 1 outdoor-rated extension cord (with your name)
  3. Name on your extension cord
  4. LED lights (ONLY)
  5. Multi-plug for multi strands of lights
  6. Wire Cutters / Scissors
  7. Gloves
  8. Zip Ties / Pipe Cleaners
  9. Non-breakable decorations
  10. Ladder / Step Stool
